Windows menu has many advantages, but also several drawbacks. For example, you need to open it and choose the program you need from the complete list of programs, or open the corresponding folder to find a given file. Start Menu X is a program that replaces the traditional Windows menu with a more functional and customizable version.

The program allows you to view all the contents of your computer in a single view, thus saving you the time you would devote to find the program or document you need. Also, it lets you create virtual groups to put together several programs of the same type. For example, if you are a graphic designer, you can put all the graphic edition programs in a single group, so you can access them more easily. This can be done with all kinds of programs. You can create groupings that may have sense only for you and nobody else, and that is an advantage.

The only drawback I could think of is that if you don't edit the menu and create groups, it may appear too crowded. Also, if you are accustomed to the old Windows menu, it may take a while for you to adopt this new program. Nevertheless, it will worth the effort.

There is a Pro, cost-based version with more features on the developer's website.

I love this program! The start menu now works the way MS should have designed it to work.
